Most people think bathroom heat lamps are just for that cozy feeling on your skin when you step out of the shower. But we built these infrared (IR) units to do a lot more than just keep you warm. They’re actually designed to hunt down moisture and stop mold before it even starts.
How it actually works
Here’s the thing about standard heaters: they just warm up the air. But we use short-wave infrared radiation. Instead of floating around in the air, this energy goes straight into your walls and ceilings. It warms up your tiles and grout from the inside out. By keeping those surfaces warmer than the air around them, condensation simply can’t happen. No damp walls, no standing water. And since mold needs moisture to survive, it basically has nowhere to live.
The nuts and bolts
We didn’t want these things breaking the moment they hit a cloud of steam. That’s why we use high-purity quartz glass. It can handle the jump from cold to hot without cracking. We also tuned the filament to a specific wavelength. It sounds technical, but it just means the heat is absorbed better by porous materials. Plus, we added heavy-duty moisture seals so the electronics don’t corrode. You’ll notice the heat feels very concentrated. That’s on purpose. It forces water to evaporate off your walls fast. It’s basically a dehumidifier that doesn’t require you to cut holes in your ceiling for extra ducting.
A few things to keep in mind
These lamps pull a decent amount of power. Before you install one, just double-check that your wiring and breakers can handle the load so you aren’t tripping the power every time you take a shower. Also, because the heat is so direct, be careful with plastics. They can warp if they’re too close. Give the lamp at least 1.5 meters of breathing room from anything that isn’t ceramic. Pro tip: Hook it up to a timer or a humidity sensor. That way, it only runs when it’s actually needed. Your electricity bill—and the life of the lamp—will thank you.
